The citizen uprising has begun
COVID conspiracy theories go mainstream, but are protests effective?
This is a quick recap of global COVID protests and reflections on what could come next. If this is your first High Ground experience, you can find much-needed context here: http://highground.report. This is Issue 1208F. Answers to common questions are at the end. Onwards…

Today—Tuesday, September 1st—is officially the first day of spring in the Southern Hemisphere. Spring in Cape Town is heralded by a short but magnificent time in which wildflowers burst forth in carpets of vibrant yellow, deep purple, bright pink and pure white. It’s a breathtaking reminder of the life which lies dormant during the cold winter months. If you enjoy flowers (or simply need a quick pick-me-up) take a peek into Cape Town’s flower season.
Similarly, events now unfolding around the world are a welcome visual reminder that there IS life outside of the official narrative. This past weekend was a welcome relief for those who have not swallowed the COVID agenda. Here’s a recap of some of the events.
Friday, August 28th, 2020
The weekend kicked off with the launch of Children’s Health Defense's Europe Chapter in Berlin, Germany.
In this 20min announcement, it’s refreshing to hear someone of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s stature (he’s the founder and chairman of Waterkeeper Alliance and Children’s Health Defense and co-counsel in the $2bn Monsanto Roundup litigation) speak about his journey from mercury poisoning in water to vaccinations. He also touches on the dangers of 5G, not from a health perspective, but instead highlighting the prerequisite of a communications network like 5G to support the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Wednesday, June 26, 1963—Berlin
In 1963, RFK’s uncle, John F. Kennedy, spoke to overflowing crowds in Berlin. He addressed the great issue between the free world and the Communist world, in which he spoke the famous phrase, “Ich bin ein Berliner.” The US news media cheered.
Saturday, August 29th, 2020—Berlin
On Saturday, RFK spoke for freedom to overflowing crowds in Berlin. The US media ignored it and German police staged a false flag mini-demonstration to diminish local coverage of his speech.
During his opening remarks, RFK said that the American mainstream media are telling people he came to Berlin “…to speak to about five thousand Nazis. But I look at this crowd and I see the opposite of Nazism. I see people of democracy. People who want open government. People who want leaders who are not going to lie to them. People who want leaders who will not make up arbitrary rules and regulations to orchestrate obedience of the population. We want health officials who don’t have financial entanglements with the pharmaceutical industry, who are working for us, not Big Pharma.” Isn’t that what we all want?
You can see commentary on the event here.
Saturday, August 29th, 2020—London
Also on Saturday, estimates of as many as 35,000 or 40,000 people came together in Trafalgar Square, London, organised by Piers Corbyn and Kate Shemirani, with a speech by David Icke.
Sunday, August 30th, 2020
In Boston, thousands came together to protest Gov. Charlie Baker’s announcement on Aug. 19 that flu vaccinations will be required for all students 6 months or older who attend child care, pre-school, school and college in Massachusetts.

I’m sure there were other events this weekend, but you get the idea—what used to be taboo topics are now (finally) becoming mainstream.
Upcoming Events
Saturday, September 5th—London: Hyde Park, Marching to BBC Studios. See https://www.standupx.info.
Saturday, September 5th—Sydney & Melbourne: The Facebook event page has been removed and the organiser has been arrested and charged, but see his profile for details or this Twitter account or this Aussie Bush Telegraph or the comments in this video. From Victoria Police: “Those still thinking of attending the CBD to protest on Saturday can expect a swift and firm response from police. We will have no hesitation in issuing $1,652 fines to anyone who is breaching the restrictions on the day, or making arrests if necessary.”
September 4th or 5th—US: While not confirmed, there is talk of a US event in solidarity with Australia being planned. Follow Reinette Senum, Carlos Zapata or Imani Mamalution for announcements.
[September 2nd: a disturbing update]
Protests in Context
Let’s be realistic, though: protests on their own stand little chance of changing anything. Over the past few years we’ve witnessed numerous protests around the world pushing back against the overlapping technocracies of neoliberalism and authoritarianism. In some cases, despots are replaced, but the pattern continues.
That said, if you view protests as visible clues of the coming together of imaginal cells, there is reason for hope. In other words, while protests won’t necessarily achieve the changes we want to see, protests are a really effective way of imaginal cells finding each other. That, to me, seems to be the reason for hope in our times.
While protests and other STOP initiatives are important to widely publicise the activities we want to bring to an end, the more important focus is RESET: what are the activities that we do want, and who must we bring together to make things happen?
Bridge-building
As we look beyond protests and ahead to the kind of activities, forms of governance and methods of exchange we do want to see, we need to build bridges between players in the current economy who yearn for a new economy and players currently building new economy tools. There are many, many players in both teams, but they’re not (yet) talking to each other. If you’re active in this bridge-building space, or know someone who is, please reach out.
That’s it for today! If you’re planning on attending an upcoming protest, please don’t get yourself arrested, and please consciously connect with as many imaginal cells as you can (watch the 2min video above for context).
If any of your friends are trying to make sense of the age of non-sense, please feel free to forward this email or send them this link: http://highground.report. You’re also welcome to share on social media—just bash the big blue button below (as my daughter would say).
Much love and happy Southern Hemisphere Spring Day,
